Formula One 2007 Edition - Official Discussion Thread

Dear pilots,

The 2007 Formula One event is released!

The event starts at 1th March, and ends at 8th November. An all-year event this time ;).

The event will have a special airplane designed for it: A Boeing 747-400F EuroCargo "Champion Mover" airplane.

You can see the event details on the Events section, as always :) ...

The original idea was from Ricardo Pedrosa. We thank him for that.

Don't forget that if you wish to join the event, please send me an email with your pilot id and name!.
We are not responsible if you start the event with an airplane that will not be reserved for you, and later he is, by mistake, stolen from other pilot!

Any doubts, comments, etc, please post them here.

Regards and welcome!!

Great idea! I think I will be joining this event (although I gotta check my planning for this year carefully, things like graduation and my first "real" job are things to keep in mind). One question: will the PMDG 747-400F be allowed for this event?

hmm. I've got to take in account my exams this year. I'm going to be very busy, but considering how long each leg is and how long we have to do it, I think I will do it;D

Bruno.

This event is a great one for sure and my personal thanks to you and all other guys that you do all the preparations needed for us, including Ricardo as well for the idea. But, and this is just for a little bit of thinking: what about a few shorter and faster PP events in meantime? Regardless the legs are very long and we have enough of time to complete them, there is a plenty of time left. So, why not make a good use of time left?

It was my thinking when I gave the suggestion. But I don't remember if I told that to Bruno. May the management decide! ;)

Hi,

Yes, there will be parallel ProPilot events along the way.
I already have some thoughts about the next PP event that will run parallel to this one, but let me fully prepare this one so I can start preparing the next one ...

The next one it's going to be around May ...

Hi, is it going to be possible to complete normal pro pilot filghts whilst doing the event? for instance if yr plane is in kuala lumper would u be able fly something else or will we have to have a 24hr break so the travel mode expires and also leave 24hr before start of next leg?

exactly as you said Kevin.

Wait 24h to be freed. Start 24h earlier to do the next PP flight :)

Also, if you send me an email with your sign in pilot id and name, your airplane will always be reserved for you.

It means that you can still fly other airplanes, but the other pilots cannot lock your reserved airplane 747-400F stationed at the airport.

For now it's not being considered. The idea was based using the ProPilot feature ...

I have 2 questions:
-Do we have to set weather or install sceneries like during the UNHCR event?
-Are we going to use a different version of 747-400F from the one we have in the Fleet page, or will it be the same?? This is just for my training on the plane, because I have to learn quickly how to fly this 747 (I've never done a flight with it...) without crashing...:s

Hi Paolo,

if you fly online, the weather is live. In any other cases you decide. I think it is advised to install sceneries, but only for the pleasure ;D All of the destinations are big international airports, that are included in FS, but is not it better to taxi on a nicely detailed airport ?

The 747F will be "new" It means, the freeware model will fly like the latest 747 passenger variant. If you command that well, you will not have problems with the cargo variant either. The most important difference is the fuel useage, and you need to take care more of the balance while loading the cargo ;) Of course PMDG is PMDG, you need to know that well. But if you got into trouble you always have the Autoland feature there :P

We have 21 pilots already signed it for the Event! I think, in 48h, we broke the pilot's record on the Event :o ...

Thank for the quick reply Robert, so you think I'd better train with my 747-400PMDG and not with EHM 747-400F?
I'm terrified about flying that beast :]

No Paolo,

a little missunderstanding. I do not know much about the PMDG handling especially the cargo version. That should be identical with the pax version. What I will do at the freeware Meljet model is to copy the pax dynamics over the cargo one, and adjust the payload and fuel useage. So really they will be identical. I guess PMDG did something similar ;)

Bruno.

I'd like to propose you an idea, which may be something new and interesting. Do you have a chance to create a list of all pilots participants in the event and put in all current data concerning each pilot, so we all can see our own status and position and the same of all others. I have in mind the data such as: present location, total miles flown, consumption of the fuel, time spent for the flights. etc. A matter of debate I guess. But this should be very challenging for all, let say if we compete about leadership in consumption of the fuel, or something simmilar.

Peter
