Is it an idea to open a hub in Australia?
It's a BIG continent with a lot of beautifull airports...

When you are looking for a hub-manager.....I'm your man!!

Singapore or Dubai would open up more routes than any in Australia. Australia is  "in the corner on things". :]

I suppose you could argue there are lots of routes, but IMO its a bit hard to get too :]

We opened the KATL HUB to "attack" the pilots in america, maybe a KATL hub will make thm join our airline...
I have no doubt there are simmers in oz...but i doubt there are as many as in Germany or Brazil, where we dont have HUB's

perhaps, the MT has looked into stuff like this, KATL is enough for now...we will get this fully implemented and up along side the other HUB's and then PERHAPS, consider  further expansion

I don't know, I've always considered EuroHarmony as a good airline that operates in one HUGE region, Europe and North America. Asia, just like Australia, is a bit far from home.

IF the airline possibly considers expansion, maybe Canada would be a better choice? We have to remember the hard work the 'head honchos' do and the amount of work it requires to open up a new HUB ;D.

What about a HUB in Germany?

reasons:

Germany is one of the largest and active IVAO countries

many German Pilots in EHM

Germany has a large population and many big airports and HUBs of european airlines

Germany is in the heart of Europe

ok ok ... this could be getting out of hand...a new hub may be on the cards, but dont worry, The MT has done its h/w and have it all in hand...

Why the cry for new Hubs all the time? The Hub is almost irrelevant compared to the variety of flights on offer through EHM. And with the inclusion of tours and ProPilot there should be more than enough. If I want to fly to Australia, Asiaor any of hundreds of flights in and out of Germany, I can. Why need a hub ... I just don't understand. I personally am part of the LSZH hub currently and have previously been part of the EHAM hub. Opening a Hub abroad probably doesn't mean EHM grows substantially. We are still predominantly a european airline and the opportunities in our own continent are fairly significant.

Hi,

The analysis of a hub location is somehow complex.
We just cannot think of the geography, but also the possible pilots that we can attract, plus the timetable adjustements that we also have to do.

It's our strategy to open a new hub per year. This year we had opened Atlanta following our growing strategy to expand to other continents.

EuroHarmony cannot just be on Europe because definately we grab pilots from all over the world, and not only european pilots. So, because they also deserve a special attention, we are trying to open hubs near them.

We started on USA because our statistics say that the second pilot's country on EHM is USA. It's was like a gift to thank their trust on us.

We will continue our expansion. But I really don't know if the next one will be on Europe or other place else. When the time comes, we will think about it and inform you of our decision.

Regards,

The strategy for new hubs is entirely sound Bruno and should slow conversation until later in the year. The effort a new hub takes to open  is obviously substantial. Whilst on the subject of substantial work ... major thanks to Simao for the Events work. This really is an exciting buzz coupled with ProPilot. Loooking forward to seeing your photos Bruno :)

Just to chip in here, and give the general pilot population a hint of how these things go, when we began to think about the new hub last year, we quickly narrowed our choices down to the US and the Middle East. As it happens, the other factors involved suggested we go with the US (which we have), but only time will tell if this has been correct.

Next year (or more correctly, during the third trimester of this year) when the MT comes to think about a new hub, I for one (if still on the MT) will be pushing for the Far East as I think this will open up the most new territory to lower classed pilots.

Good day!

Crazy tips.
Opening other Countries, and changing Euroharmony VA to Worldharmony VA?

Normalize: Very simple question.
Why Australia? Why not Asia, or latest project?

You're absolutely right there Razzaz ... this forum is where suggestions get talked through.
The whole Hub issue is worthy of chat however. I enjoy the fact that EHM offers so much variety and freedom over other VAs and this is one of our significant strong points. It is therefore a worthy topic that folks raise but one that should be considered in full. Setting up a new hub is a lot of work and should IMHO only be undertaken if the rewards are worthwhile.

Wow, I didn't know 'WorldHarmony' was planning such an expansion rate!! It might be a good idea to open up a HUB somewhere in the far east, but a new HUB every year?! I think European pilots might lose interest because this genuinely 'European' airline would be invaded by a bunch of Americans, Arabs, Asians and likewise!!! What do you other guys think??

(We EuroHarmony pilots just LOVE a good debate ;) )

You're completely right. Even if EHM has to develop, I would like to see EHM always in Europe. I think that the new Atlanta's hub is a big new, but  one hub outside europe is enough. I prefer Euroharmony not worldharmony...

I think 'invaded' is quite a strong way of describing other fellow sim pilots joining us in our hobby from elsewhere in the world. They may not arrive as a bunch either ... it may be individuals joining to see what we have to offer ;)
We already have a smattering of non-european members and we should encourage this - whether it be by opening other Hubs or simply being welcoming to all nationalities in this forum. The international dimension is a key factor here - how fantsatic that we have members all over Europe and potentially the world working together to enjoy a great hobby. :>

Of course it is, Phil!! You're right; 'invaded' was not the right word, but I'm sure you all get the picture. When EuroHarmony announced that it was opening a new HUB outside Europe, I was quite skeptical about EuroHarmony expanding its borders beyond the European continent, but when I heard it was to open in America I was quite happy about it (being an American pilot). I'm sure that same feeling can be experienced by other pilots of other nationalities.

I'm just glad I can be here to watch this awesome airline grow!!! ;D

Yes 'invaded' is not the right word to use. And if that was the case, then that ship sailed a long time ago. If I remember correctly one of the first pilots the joined EHM back in 2001 when the company started, was an American. So EHM has in that way never really been 'all european.' I really think thats a good thing. And until now we have pulled in those pilots without the use of Hubs outside Europe.
Now we have turned a new leaf and started to expand by the use of an American Hub. I guess that had to happen sooner or later, I mean it been the subject of a few debates over the years, most of them before the crash in 2004. I guess I'm still very skeptical about the MT strategy. I think that we should keep a cool head and see how the American Hub develops. I mean at the moment it don't really look like it's pulling that many new pilots in.
Should we have a Hub in Australia? I think we should, at some time. That might be next year or in ten years. However if you ask me I don't really see any idea in opening more hubs in Europe. Well perhaps if we where to have one it should be somewhere in eastern europe. But I think we should be careful not just opening a new hub, because we want to expand or do something for some pilot from a special country or part of the world. There are no fun in having 24 hubs around the world, if the only pilot in most of them is the Hub Captain and perhaps 2 - 3 other pilots. I think that the best thing for all of us is to have the right amount of hubs and that those are so to talk strong and healty hubs.

You're right Karsten. The growth of EHM drives the need for new hubs.
