[Weblog] Tests @ the KLS
« on: October 07, 2004, 04:39:30 pm »
Hi all,

In a previous thread I told about my start at the KLM Flight Academy. Someone asked if I could start a weblog to inform you guys about my progress here at EHGG. However, I don´t want to have a whole weblog, because then I will have the feeling that I have to post something every day. At this moment I am not very busy, but that changes in the next weeks, so I can´t post daily.

To keep you informed, I started this thread where I will post my stories once in a while. If you want to comment on my posts here, please reply here: http://www.euroharmony.com/~forum/viewthread.php?tid=639. It is not possible to reply in this topic.

Well, lets start then :)

07-10-2004
I am here for almost one week now. I started this week with a refresh course physics. Today it was the last day that I had these lessons. Tomorrow morning we are off, but later that day my other class mates will arive. We´ll get some general information about the upcoming 2 years and of course some famous KFA appetizers.

Wednesday evening, we met the people of the KFA fraternity in the pub. It was big fun, but it resulted in the fact that nobody was fully concentrated during the physics classes this morning :s.

This weekend I´ll be going home and then I´ll get my digital camera so I can make some pictures for you.

Well, that´s it for now. Stay tuned...

Home again!

Today, all students of my class (04-04) arrived at the KLM Flight Academy. In the afternoon we had the official introducery by the director of the school. It was not really new for me, because I already lived there for 5 days so I decided to go home after the introduction was over.

The introducery of the student fraternity has been delayed with one week, so I am next weekend off too. I can't be unhappy about that, because that gives me the oppurtunity to see my girlfriend again.

The words 'Home again!' sound like I am very happy to be home again. However, I can't wait to go back because we'll have a 2-day survival at monday and tuesday to know each other better. Of course I'll tell you all about it when I get back from these 2 days.

Well, not a lot to tell today, because nothing special happened. Have a nice weekend!

Maarten

I didn't post a lot of my stories in the last time and I didn't plan to post today, but last Wednesday, a terrible accident happened.

Two fellow students died in a car accident that happened Wednesday evening. Their car crashed onto a tree when the driver lost control of the car. I don't want to get into the details, because these are useless to know.

The theory school of the KLM Flight Academy is closed for the rest of the week. My thoughts are with the students who were so closely to their dream, but who were taken away from it so suddenly.

It has been a while since I made my last post in this topic, so it´s time to give you a little update.

I am here at the KLM Flight Academy for 1 1/2 month now and it still is great. Time flies and it´s a strange idea that I am already on 1/6 of the theory part:> It´s not always big fun here, because we had some tests this week...

This meant that I had to learn a lot of hours before the tests began. Last Tuesday, I had meteorology and air law. On Wednesday, it was time for the most difficult subject: principles of flight (aerodynamics). Meteorology gave me the worst feeling afterwards, but the other 2 tests gave me a much better feeling.

Afterwards, I can say that these feelings were correct. The results:

- Meteorology: 68%
- Air law: 100%
- Principles of Flight: 100%

These tests were not offical, but when we have tests prior to our exam, we need to have at least a score of 70% before the school lets me to the final exam.

For the other people who want to become a pilot: when you look at the other scores, you´ll think that these were quite easy. Well, they were, but they are only when you learn, learn, learn, learn and learn.

When a students gets a score of 100%, he should jump into the holy pond. Because of the low temperatures here in the Netherlands during this period, I decided to go only once. Man, that was cold! But it was it worth!

So far this update, replying on this post is possible in this thread:
