747-400 liveries problem
« on: November 06, 2004, 04:55:50 pm »
I just downloaded the new 747 model and the hub liveries. I installed everything as instructed but I've got a couple of problem with it. Firstly when I load FS I get this error message:

Aircraft Initialization Failure.
Boeing 747-400 MR MKIII Paint Kit - RR.

Then when I fly one of the 747s there is no sound.

I probably installed it wrong, does anyone know how to fix this?

That sounds weird, it seem to be work like a charm on my FS2004. My best advice would be to delete or rename the directory and install it again

Hi Joe,

it really sounds weird, but that message shows there is a probelm with your folder structure. I mean, our B747 have a MDL, and AIR files named: Boeing747-400-MR-MKIII and not that you wrote. I discovered when there are the same model/air file names among different aircraft folders, FS used to lost simetimes, and generates similar messages, or simply loads an aircraft that he wants... You should check your installed B747s and look for the MDL/AIR file names, also check the aircraft.cfg files for duplicated "title=..." sections among different aircrafts.

For the sound problem, check if you have this folder, that is shown in the sound.cfg: "b747_400\sound" If not, then edit this file and change it to a valid location, where your favourite B747 sounds are installed. In FS2002, this is a default folder so there should not be any problem.

Well problem solved. The error message was coming up because I had my default flight set as using the old 747 which I had already deleted.

What confused me about the sound problem was that there was already a sound file in the 747 folder, but it was pointing to the default 747 sound, but when I looked in the default FS 747, I found that it uses the default 737 sound, so I changed the EHM 747 to use that too, until I get some proper 747 sounds.
