Dear Gents,

last year we had a bloody hard return flight to Lisbon, because the freeware Beech burnt the fuel so fast. Plz check, if you have the latest version with moderate fuel usage.

The normal value inside the Aircraft.cfg for the Beech should have:

[GeneralEngineData]
...
fuel_flow_scalar = 0.5

This way you should not have to leave the baggage in Dakar for the return flights. ;)

Bruce, i think it's like this, that you can't lock the flight until the right date of the leg. so you'll have to wait until the 4th to fly the first leg :]

Hi Bruce

You can only lock the flights within the specified date range given on the event page.

So try again on the 4th:>

Last year I flew the event with the PMDG Beech1900 without having a fuel problem with the last two legs even with some headwind using real weather.
Cheers,
Jaap

Here we goooo!

I did not wake up early enough to be the first to fly the first leg (Bruce beat me by 10 minutes, congrats to him), but the adventure has begun. (In this case, the adventure is of course to find the time to fly within the schedule :) )

Looking forward to the next leg!

we shall have to wait for more information from control, would be a pity to stop the tour, but will fly the next leg  any way, if it  is stopped l  will  fly the event,  just for the fun of it. Bruce EHM 2131 ;D

I say keep going (personal, not MT...) Just 'cause they've canceled the real-life race, no reason for us to not keep the event going in celebration of the history of the real-life race.

According to the BBC News website it was cancelled because terrorist threats against the race meant that the organisers felt the risks to those involved were too great.

This is against a background of tourists being murdered recently in Mauritania so the threat is unfortunately very real...

But I don't understand why they cancel the whole tour. Why can't you just drive to Morrocco and back or something. These people spended a whole year and a whole load of money on there car.. And imagine the money that the event loses by sponsors etc.

Bastiaan,

The ralley is nothing without Maurentania, because of the worlds best sand dunes there.
I guess it's all or nothing. The sponsors will run anyway from only a half ralley. I think the question is:
why so late, the problems are not from yesterday only

Not quite the same is it? I have sort of made it a tradition each year to put the results of the real race up and some pics and some info but yeh... I am disappointed :(

Oh well, at least we can still fly our own event, better than a terrorist threat becoming a real happening :s

I just finished the second leg to LEMG.

I was able to lock leg E053. But I do not see a leg from LEMG to Nador..

Are we supposed to fly E053 today also or what..?

if not, what is the ICAO code for Nador?

How do we proceed from LEMG onwards??
